End of Life Issues
October 22, 2022
10 am to noon
In the undercroft of St. Philip
All of us have questions when it comes to the end of life...Is a treatment life-sustaining or life-threatening? Is it legal and ethical to limit food and fluids? What health care and legal directives should be in place now? How do we assure death with dignity? What is the difference between ordinary and extraordinary care? Catholic funeral plans? Etc. etc.
Join us on October 22 as we ponder these and other important issues. A panel of experts from Dayton Right to Life will be with us to offer information, insights, and suggestions on how to prepare for dealing with the loss of someone we love. It is a great gift to our families if we have our own wishes expressed before some unfortunate event happens. So join us with your own questions and concerns.
Moving from mourning to joy!!!
It happens all the time. The support, care and concern of friends and family ends, and you are left feeling alone. Their lives have returned to normal but yours never will. Others want to help you but don’t know how.
Beginning in August, the parish family of St. Philip the Apostle and St. Francis de Sales will be offering a support group using the materials of GriefShare! The program is nondenominational and features biblical concepts for healing from your grief.
A Grief Share support group offers help and encouragement after the death of a spouse, child, family member or friend. There are three key parts to the GriefShare experience: a video seminar, small group discussion and a workbook for journaling and personal reinforcement.
The Support group begins August 10, at St Philip the Apostle, from 10 am to noon. It runs for 13 weeks. Each session is self-contained so you don’t have to attend in sequence or feel you need to attend every session. Some of the sessions will deal with: the challenges of grief; grief and your relationships; guilt and anger; feeling stuck; how do I live now?
If you or someone you know wishes to make this journey, please go to: www.griefshare.org, click on the link…finding a group…and then click on the group meeting at St. Philip the Apostle, Morrow. There you will be able to register and order a workbook which will be sent to you. The workbook costs $20.00. If you have any questions or need any assistance, please contact Fr. Bob Farrell at [email protected].
May God bless you and continue to strengthen you in your time of loss and grief!
